amnesia
Amnesia

THE GENETICS

Amnesia is one of the most iconic and celebrated sativa-dominant varieties in the European cannabis scene, a legendary strain that has won over generations of enthusiasts thanks to its extraordinarily complex aromatic profile and unrivalled expressive intensity. Its origins are shrouded in mystery, as is often the case with the great strains of cannabis history: the most widely accepted account places its birth in Amsterdam in the 1990s, from a cross between an original Californian Haze — probably a South Asian Indica or a Hawaiian — and Cinderella 99 or a Skunk variety, although some also attribute South Asian and Afghan genetics to its DNA, enriching its complexity. What is certain is that Amnesia has established itself over the years as one of Europe's most awarded strains, winning the Amsterdam Cannabis Cup in 2004 in the sativa category and earning countless other international accolades. The evocative name — Amnesia, loss of memory — reflects the historical tradition of the original strain, while its CBD version preserves its rich terpene heritage with a THC content within legal limits, offering a memorable aromatic experience without compromising legality.

THE APPEARANCE

Amnesia CBD flowers are among the most imposing and striking in the Haze family: the flower clusters are large, elongated and airy, with a typically sativa structure that leaves plenty of space between the calyxes and pistils, giving the buds an open, majestic appearance. The colour is a bright, saturated green with shades tending towards yellow-green in the more mature areas, enriched by abundant, vibrant orange-gold pistils distributed evenly along the entire length of the flower clusters. The trichome covering is abundant and crystalline, evenly spread over every surface of the buds and the surrounding small leaves, giving the buds a brilliant, almost luminous appearance in the light. The overall visual effect is that of a generous, luxuriant flower, reflecting the distinguished heritage of its descent from the original Haze family. The buds are selected and trimmed by hand to preserve their integrity and ensure consistent, high-quality batches.

AROMA

Amnesia's aromatic profile is among the most complex, layered and fascinating in the entire CBD landscape: a multidimensional bouquet that reveals itself gradually, offering new nuances each time to those who take the time to explore them. The dominant notes are earthy and spicy, with intense hints of pepper, incense and aromatic wood forming the deep, oriental foundation of the profile. Fresh citrus nuances of lemon and citron rest upon this solid base, a legacy of the Californian Haze component that brings brightness and freshness to the whole. Delicate floral notes of wildflowers and a light honey sweetness emerge in the background, rounding out the profile and adding complexity. The aromatic persistence is exceptionally long: the aroma lingers in the air and on the palate for several minutes, developing layers and evolving into an olfactory journey that few other strains can match. An aroma to remember, despite the name.

ORIGIN AND CULTIVATION

This strain is grown in a fully controlled indoor environment, where every environmental parameter is optimised to showcase its complex terpene heritage and support its natural tendency to produce large flower clusters. Amnesia is a variety that requires patience and expertise: its flowering cycle is among the longest in the CBD scene — up to eleven or twelve weeks — and the plants show vigorous, generous growth that requires management techniques such as topping and training to optimise light distribution and flower yields. Cultivation takes place without pesticides or chemical fertilisers, in full accordance with the highest organic standards. Particular attention is paid to the drying stage, which is carried out especially slowly and progressively for this variety to preserve the integrity of its extraordinary terpene profile. The flowers are selected and trimmed by hand before final packaging.

THE ORIGINS

Amnesia emerged in Amsterdam's underground scene in the early 1990s, a golden period for European cannabis when Dutch seed banks were at the forefront of genetic selection worldwide. Its precise origins remain debated among enthusiasts — some argue for direct descent from the original Californian Haze of the 1960s, while others include Afghan or Hawaiian genetics in its pedigree — but what is indisputable is how rapidly it became one of Europe's most respected strains. International recognition came in 2004, when Amnesia won the Amsterdam Cannabis Cup in the sativa category, becoming the reference strain for generations of European growers and enthusiasts. From Amsterdam it quickly spread throughout Europe, becoming particularly popular in Spain, Italy and France, where it became one of the most cultivated and sought-after strains on the market. With the advent of CBD, European growers immediately adopted Amnesia genetics to produce legal flowers of the highest quality, recognising an irreplaceable terpene heritage and a history that speaks for itself.

FLOWER SPECIFICATIONS

Item

Value

Variety

Amnesia

Cultivation type

Controlled indoor cultivation

Country of origin

Italy — Lombardy

Hemp cultivar

Cannabis sativa L.

Appearance

Large, majestic flower with an open sativa structure

Colour

Bright green with yellow-green shades and golden pistils

Drying

Slow and progressive, at a controlled temperature

AROMATIC PROFILE

Item

Value

SPICY

Pepper, incense, aromatic wood

CITRUS

Fresh lemon, citron, bergamot

EARTHY

Humus, wild herbs, moss

FLORAL

Wildflowers, light honey notes

STORAGE

Temperature: 15–20 °C
Humidity: 55–62% RH
Packaging: Airtight jar, protected from light

The indicated CBD percentage is for guidance only and represents the maximum value obtained in laboratory testing for this strain.
