THE PRODUCT

Bubble Hash is one of the purest and most technically sophisticated CBD cannabis extracts available on the market, obtained through Ice Water Extraction — a modern, refined technique that uses only ice-cold water and ice to separate the glandular trichomes from the plant material, without any chemical solvents, heat or mechanical pressure. The name “Bubble” comes from one of this extract's most fascinating characteristics: superior-quality hashish, when exposed to a flame, forms small bubbles and melts cleanly and completely without leaving carbon residues, a behaviour that connoisseurs have used for decades as an empirical test of purity. The more bubble hash “bubbles”, the purer it is. This extraction technique, developed and refined in the North American and Dutch cannabis scenes from the late 1990s onwards, represents the ideal meeting point between the mechanical purity of dry sift and the technical precision of modern extraction methods, producing an exceptionally high-quality result with one of the highest CBD concentrations in the entire catalogue. A product for true connoisseurs seeking maximum purity without compromise.

THE PRODUCTION PROCESS

Producing Bubble Hash through Ice Water Extraction is a technical, multistage process requiring specialised equipment, outstanding raw materials and a thorough mastery of the variables involved. The CBD cannabis flowers are first frozen at very low temperatures — ideally between -20 and -30 °C — to make the glandular trichomes brittle and crystalline, facilitating their separation from the plant. The frozen material is then immersed in ice-cold water with plenty of ice — the water temperature must remain close to 0 °C throughout the process — and gently agitated for a precisely calibrated period: agitation in the icy water detaches the trichomes from the plant material without damaging them, causing them to settle to the bottom. The water containing the trichomes is then filtered through a progressive series of filter bags — the “bubble bags” — with decreasing mesh sizes, from 220 microns down to 25 microns, separating the trichomes by size and purity. Each bag grade produces an extract with slightly different characteristics: the finer-mesh bags — between 73 and 90 microns — collect the highest-quality trichomes, those that make up true “full melt” bubble hash. The collected material is finally dried carefully before packaging.

THE APPEARANCE

Bubble Hash has a consistency that is unique among extracts: a granular, sandy mass when perfectly dried, which compacts under finger pressure into crumbly, porous pieces, or a more elastic and malleable consistency when slightly moister. Colour is one of its most variable and fascinating characteristics: it depends directly on the starting variety and the purity of the extraction, ranging from a light, almost golden blonde for the purest fractions to a greenish brown for lower grades. The premium product — extracted from the finer-mesh bags — tends to be golden sand in colour with amber highlights, with an almost sandy feel that blends together easily with the warmth of the fingers. The structure is porous and airy, very different from the compactness of pressed hashish, with a matte, granular surface that absorbs light rather than reflecting it. Under a microscope, the individual intact glandular trichomes can be observed, an extraordinary sight that demonstrates the delicacy and precision of the extraction process.

AROMA

Bubble Hash's aromatic profile is among the most faithful to the original flower in the entire hashish catalogue: the ice-water extraction process is extraordinarily respectful of the trichomes' chemical integrity, preserving a terpene fraction of exceptional richness and complexity that other extraction methods would partially alter through heat or pressure. The aroma is fresh, lively and multidimensional, with a crystalline clarity reminiscent of mountain spring water: clear, immediate and free from the toasted or caramelised notes that characterise hot-pressed hashish. The dominant notes directly reflect the terpene profile of the original flowers — fresh resin, pine, aromatic herbs and citrus — concentrated and enhanced by selecting only the glandular trichomes. Delicate floral notes and the sweetness of fresh honey emerge in the background, adding roundness to the profile. Aromatic variation between batches can be significant depending on the flower varieties used for extraction, making each production run a partly unique aromatic experience. The persistence is long and intensifies progressively with warmth, revealing increasingly deep and complex terpenes.

INNOVATION AND TRADITION

The Ice Water Extraction method was developed and patented in the late 1990s by Mila Jansen — a Dutch pioneer of cannabis culture and founder of Pollinator Company in Amsterdam — and the Canadian breeder Soma, who refined the techniques in the early 2000s. The basic idea was as simple as it was ingenious: to exploit the physical properties of ice-cold water — which makes trichomes brittle and plant material elastic — to separate the plant's active components mechanically and entirely naturally, without using any chemical agents. The bubble-bag system was commercialised from 1998 onwards, revolutionising the world of artisanal extracts and paving the way for a new era of hashish quality in Europe and North America. In subsequent years, the technique was adopted and refined by hundreds of artisanal producers worldwide, becoming the reference method for those seeking maximum extraction purity without solvents. In the European CBD landscape, Bubble Hash is now considered one of the most technically prized extracts, appreciated by connoisseurs for its exceptional aromatic clarity and a cannabinoid concentration among the highest achievable through mechanical methods. A product that honours the oldest hashish tradition — the mechanical separation of trichomes — with the most advanced technologies available.
