Lebanese Hash
Description
THE PRODUCT
Libanese Hash is a Levantine-inspired CBD hashish, produced by replicating Lebanon's artisanal tradition — particularly that of the plains of the Bekaa Valley, in the eastern part of the country, historically the most important hashish-producing area in the Middle East and eastern Mediterranean. Lebanon boasts one of the oldest and most respected hashish traditions in the world: as early as the 18th and 19th centuries, its hashish — known throughout the Mediterranean as “red Lebanese” or “gold Lebanese” depending on the plant's maturity at harvest — was considered among the world's finest and most sought-after, exported along Middle Eastern trade routes as far as the European coast. The Lebanese technique differs from other hashish traditions around the world through its use of plants harvested at different stages of maturity — earlier for “gold”, riper for “red” — and pressing at moderate temperatures, preserving a significant proportion of the most delicate terpenes. Libanese Hash CBD reinterprets this noble Mediterranean tradition with outstanding Italian raw materials, in full compliance with current regulations.
THE PRODUCTION PROCESS
The production of Libanese Hash takes inspiration from the producer families of the Bekaa Valley, where hashish is processed using a combination of dry sieving and gentle-temperature pressing, with timings and methods varying according to the desired finished product. Selected CBD cannabis flowers are carefully dried before processing — the moisture percentage is crucial to the quality of the finished product — and then mechanically sieved through progressively finer screens to collect the glandular pollen. A distinctive feature of the Lebanese technique is prolonged pressing at moderate temperatures: heat is applied gradually and steadily — between 40 and 60 °C — for longer than in Moroccan and Pakistani techniques, allowing the resins to blend evenly without undergoing the more drastic chemical changes that occur at high temperatures. This “gentle” approach to pressing preserves a richer, more delicate terpene fraction, balancing the cannabinoid concentration typical of pressed hashish with an aromatic freshness still reminiscent of the original flower.
THE APPEARANCE
Libanese Hash displays the characteristic colours of the Levantine tradition: a surface range from pinkish beige to amber brown, with warm tones recalling the colour of the cedar of Lebanon, the country's symbolic tree from which this hashish takes its name and inspiration. When cut, the interior reveals a warm, uniform brown with reddish or golden nuances depending on the maturity of the source plants — lighter and more golden when made from early-harvested plants, darker and more coppery when made from fully mature plants. Its texture falls between Primero Hash and Pakistano: softer and more malleable than the latter, slightly denser and more compact than the former, with a pliability reminiscent of fine clay — it can easily be shaped with the fingers at room temperature without excessive heating. The surface sometimes shows a thin, darker vein caused by surface oxidation, which disappears when cut to reveal the warmer, brighter interior colour.
AROMA
The aromatic profile of Libanese Hash is elegant, balanced and refined, with a complexity reflecting the sophistication of the production tradition that inspires it. Unlike Pakistano — more assertive and spicy — and Nepal — warmer and more resinous — Libanese occupies a position of rare balance, where oriental spicy notes blend with floral freshness and herbaceous elegance, making it immediately accessible and pleasant. The dominant notes are those of Mediterranean spices — rosemary, thyme, bay leaf and a touch of sandalwood — intertwined with hints of light incense, cedar and warm resin. Pressing at moderate temperatures preserves delicate floral notes of rose and wildflowers that would be lost in more heavily processed hashish, adding a romantic, Mediterranean component to the profile. Sweet hints of acacia honey, light tobacco and a slight citrus note of bergamot emerge in the background. Its persistence is long and gentle, with a warm, spicy aftertaste that dissolves pleasantly, leaving a sensation of cleanliness and freshness.
TRADITION AND ORIGINS
The Bekaa Valley, a fertile plain enclosed between the Mount Lebanon and Anti-Lebanon mountain ranges, has been considered the cradle of quality Middle Eastern hashish for centuries. The region's exceptional climatic conditions — hot, dry summers, cold winters, mineral-rich soils and intense sunlight filtered by altitude — created ideal conditions for particularly resinous cannabis plants, whose qualities were known throughout the Mediterranean as early as the Middle Ages. Lebanese hashish reached its greatest international fame in the 1960s and 1970s, when it became one of the most sought-after products among European travellers on the so-called “Hashish Highway” — the route through Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Afghanistan and India travelled by a generation of hippies seeking cultural experiences and quality local products. Lebanese varieties — classified as “gold”, “red” and “super” according to quality — became the global benchmark for high-end hashish. Libanese Hash CBD carries this history of Mediterranean refinement, reinterpreting it with Italian CBD raw materials and meticulous artisanal techniques, respecting both tradition and legality.
