Runtz Orange
Description
THE GENETICS
Runtz Orange is a variant of the famous Runtz family, one of the most iconic and appreciated hybrid genetics to emerge from the Californian scene in the second half of the 2010s. The original Runtz — born from a cross between Zkittlez and Gelato, two of the most awarded strains of the last decade — has given rise to a series of phenotypes and variants, including Runtz Orange, which stands out for its aromatic profile characterised by intense notes of orange and tropical citrus. This specific phenotype accentuates the citrus component inherited from Zkittlez, blending it with the sweet creaminess typical of Gelato to create an olfactory profile reminiscent of a high-quality orange candy. In the CBD version, Runtz Orange keeps its indulgent, fruity character intact with a THC content within the legal limits, quickly becoming one of the most requested choices for those looking for a sweet, creamy and satisfying aromatic experience.
APPEARANCE
Runtz Orange CBD flowers are visually among the most spectacular and sought-after on the market: the buds are compact and dense, with a structure balanced between the indica characteristics of Gelato and the more open ones of Zkittlez. The colour is a bright, saturated green, enriched by intense orange pistils — particularly abundant in this phenotype — which give the flower that chromatic warmth visually recalling the fruit it is named after. The trichome coverage is extraordinary: a dense, crystalline layer covers every surface of the buds, giving them an almost frosted, shiny look that immediately catches the eye. Some buds show slight orange and peach shades in the outermost leaves. The tops are selected and hand-trimmed to preserve their integrity and guarantee batches of consistent quality.
AROMA
The aromatic profile of Runtz Orange is its most extraordinary and immediately recognisable feature: a sweet, creamy explosion of candied orange and tropical citrus blending with vanilla and buttery notes inherited from Gelato. The dominant notes recall a very high-quality orange candy — sweet, round, without acidity — with nuances of mandarin, kumquat and candied orange peel. In the background emerges an almost milky creaminess that rounds off the profile and adds complexity, accompanied by light fruity hints of mango and tropical papaya. The aromatic persistence is long and enveloping, with a sweet, fresh aftertaste that stays pleasant and never cloying. An olfactory profile that is indulgent and sophisticated at the same time, capable of winning over even the most demanding palates.
ORIGIN AND CULTIVATION
This genetic is grown in a fully controlled indoor environment, where every environmental parameter is optimised to maximise trichome production and preserve the strain's delicate terpene profile. Runtz Orange is a variety that responds excellently to advanced cultivation techniques: precise management of water and mineral feeding during flowering is essential to enhance the production of limonene and myrcene, the main terpenes responsible for the strain's citrusy, creamy aroma. Cultivation takes place without pesticides or chemical fertilisers, in full respect of the highest organic standards. The flowers are harvested at the peak of trichome maturity — verified through microscope observation — then slowly dried in environments with controlled temperature and humidity and hand-selected before final packaging.
THE ORIGINS
The story of Runtz Orange begins with that of the original Runtz, created in Los Angeles around 2017 by the Cookies collective — the same one that had already produced the famous Girl Scout Cookies — through the cross between Zkittlez from the 3rd Gen Family collective and Gelato by Mario Guzman, known in the Californian scene as "Sherbinski". Runtz quickly conquered the Los Angeles scene, becoming one of the most requested and counterfeited strains on the American market, so much so that the name "Runtz" was registered as a trademark. The Orange phenotype emerged as one of the most appreciated selections of the family, valued for its accentuated citrus component that set it apart from the other phenotypes. From California it spread to Europe, where CBD growers adopted the genetic with great enthusiasm, appreciating its ability to produce flowers with an extraordinarily complex aroma and a visually striking profile.
