Small Bud California Haze
Description
THE GENETICS
As with many of the genetics available on the market, it is almost impossible to trace the exact origin of California Haze, of which all that is known for certain is that it was born in the hills of California, in the Bay Area. The current product is the result of many years of study on high-CBD plants, whose first crosses date back as far as the early 1960s. Legend has it that two brothers — the "Haze Brothers" — created a hybrid using some seeds entirely by chance, unknowingly giving life to one of the most beloved and widespread genetics in the history of cannabis. California Haze derives from a cross between Sour Diesel and a classic Haze plant, later refined with the addition of Mexican ruderalis genetics that completed the autoflowering mix. Grown aeroponically without pesticides or chemical fertilisers, in the CBD version it offers a sweet, fruity aromatic profile with a THC content within the legal limits.
THE SMALL BUDS
Small Bud California Haze is the selection of the plant's smallest flowers — small tops with a diameter of less than one centimetre — obtained from the same high-quality aeroponic cultivation that produces the standard-size flowers. California Haze is one of the few genetics that traditionally can be found in different sizes: this characteristic, documented already in the history of the strain, makes the small buds of this variety particularly authentic and consistent with its production identity. The small tops are obtained by hand-sifting the best flowers of the plant in order to obtain uniform batches of about 1 cm in diameter — exactly as the tradition of this genetic requires. It is therefore not a by-product but a format envisaged and valued in the very history of the strain. Small buds share the exact same cannabinoid and aromatic profile as the large tops, the same cultivation care and the same overall quality, differing only in size and in a more affordable price.
APPEARANCE
Small Bud California Haze comes as small buds of about 1 cm in diameter, characterised by the typical structure of this sativa variety: slightly airy but with good central density, with a lively, colourful look that faithfully mirrors that of the large tops. The colour is a medium green with the characteristic red and purplish reflections that make California Haze visually unmistakable, enriched by a thick mantle of bright red pistils which, spread evenly, gives the small buds a warm, luminous look. The trichome coverage is clearly visible even in this reduced format, with whitish crystals that catch the light, giving every small bud a shiny look. The small size makes these tops particularly practical and versatile. Each batch is hand-selected to guarantee uniform size and the absence of excess foliage.
AROMA
The aromatic profile of Small Bud California Haze is identical to that of the large tops: the most beloved features of this variety are without a doubt its aroma and its delicate taste, a rainbow of sensations that sweetens and softens the palate. The aroma is intense, soft and pleasant, with hints of sweet fruit such as strawberry and peach, accompanied by an aftertaste reminiscent of cotton candy. When talking about California Haze, think of a true fruit candy: sweet, enveloping and persistent, with an aromatic lightness that makes it accessible and pleasant even to palates less accustomed to the intense scents of cannabis. The compact structure of the small buds concentrates the terpenes in a small space, often further enhancing the sweet-fruity aromatic perception when the container is opened. The persistence is long, with a fresh, sugary aftertaste that stays pleasant for a long time.
CULTIVATION AND SELECTION
Small Bud California Haze comes from the same controlled aeroponic cultivation that produces the large tops in the catalogue. Aeroponics is an advanced technique that allows plants to grow without water or soil, thanks to the misting of essential nutrients directly onto the roots: with this method the plant's maximum well-being is achieved and exposure to pests and pathogens is eliminated, facilitating the optimal development of the flowers. Cultivation takes place without pesticides or chemical fertilisers, certified for organic production. The selection of the small buds is done manually at harvest, separating the smallest flowers — those from the inner and lateral areas of the plant — from the larger apical tops. The small buds are then slowly dried in temperature-controlled environments, cured and hand-selected before packaging to guarantee consistent, high-quality batches.
