White Widow
Description
THE GENETICS
White Widow is one of the most famous and recognisable cannabis varieties in the world, the result of a cross between a Brazilian indica and a South Indian sativa. Born in the Netherlands in the early 1990s, it quickly became a landmark in European cannabis culture, winning prizes and recognition on its very first appearance at the 1995 High Times Cannabis Cup. Its name comes from the extraordinary coverage of white, resinous trichomes that wraps every flower, giving the buds an unmistakable pure-white, crystalline look. In the CBD version, this genetic keeps the original character of the strain intact, offering a high concentration of cannabidiol with a THC content within the legal limits.
THE APPEARANCE
The flowers of White Widow CBD show a compact, dense structure, typical of indica genetics, with an abundant trichome bloom covering every surface of the bud like a blanket of white crystals. The base colour is a deep green, enriched by orange pistils that emerge among the lighter shades of the buds. The resin is particularly visible even to the naked eye, making every flower a visual example of quality and potency. The tops are selected and hand-trimmed to preserve their integrity and guarantee consistent batches.
AROMA
The aromatic profile of White Widow is rich, complex and immediately recognisable. Earthy and woody notes prevail, with hints of pine, resin and moss, intertwined with spicy nuances of black pepper and wild herbs. In the background, fresh hints of mint and eucalyptus bring balance and cleanness to the whole. Burning reveals a warm, slightly sweet aftertaste, which makes this variety appreciated by those looking for a full, satisfying aromatic experience without excess.
ORIGIN AND CULTIVATION
This genetic is grown in a controlled indoor environment, where temperature, humidity and light cycles are precisely regulated to enhance the strain's natural resin production. Cultivation takes place without pesticides or chemical fertilisers, in line with the highest organic standards. The plants are monitored throughout the flowering cycle — which takes longer than other varieties — to ensure that every batch reaches full maturity before harvest. The flowers are harvested, dried slowly and hand-selected, ensuring consistent, verifiable quality.
THE ORIGINS
White Widow was born in Dutch greenhouses thanks to the work of the breeder Shantibaba, who crossed an indica variety from Brazil with a wild sativa collected in southern India. The aim was to obtain a plant that combined the robustness and yield of the indica with the aromatic complexity and resinous power of the tropical sativa. The result was a balanced hybrid that immediately stood out for its exceptional trichome coverage. From the Dutch underground scene it spread quickly across Europe, becoming an absolute classic that still influences new generations of breeders and growers today.
