Tangi Tonic is a modern European-bred hybrid variety, created by crossing Tangie — a celebrated Dutch sativa descended from California Orange and Skunk, renowned for its extraordinary mandarin citrus profile — with ACDC or a related high-CBD variety selected for its ability to produce high cannabidiol concentrations without altering the parent strain's terpene character. The result is a balanced, refined, sativa-dominant variety that carries all of Tangie's liveliness and citrus freshness in its DNA, amplified and stabilised by years of selection focused on CBD production. The term “Tonic” in the name evokes the effervescent freshness of a thirst-quenching drink, an apt reference to an aromatic profile reminiscent of an ice-cold citrus cocktail: pungent, fresh, lively and pleasantly persistent. THE APPEARANCE

Tangi Tonic CBD flowers have a typically sativa structure: medium-sized, light and airy flower clusters with an open construction that reveals bright orange pistils evenly distributed among the leaves. Colour is one of this strain's most distinctive features: a bright, light green with shades tending towards yellow-orange in the more mature areas of the flowers, a direct visual reference to the fruit after which it is named. The trichome covering is present and uniform, giving the buds a translucent, slightly frosted appearance that catches the light distinctively. The dominant notes are distinctly citrus — ripe mandarin, sweet orange, bergamot and a touch of pink grapefruit — fresh, clear and almost pungent in their intensity. A delicate floral sweetness emerges in the background, with hints of orange blossom and light vanilla softening the profile and adding elegance. The herbal component is discreet but present, with hints of fresh herbs and a light earthy note balancing the citrus liveliness. ORIGIN AND CULTIVATION

This strain is grown in a fully controlled indoor environment, where conditions are optimised to enhance the natural production of limonene and myrcene — the two main terpenes responsible for its characteristic fresh citrus profile. Tangi Tonic is a relatively generous and adaptable variety that responds well to standard indoor cultivation techniques, while benefiting from careful nutrition management during the pre-flowering stages to maximise terpene synthesis. The temperature during the final weeks of flowering is kept slightly lower to preserve the integrity of the volatile terpenes responsible for the freshest, most lemony notes. Cultivation takes place without pesticides or chemical fertilisers, in full accordance with the highest organic standards. The flowers are harvested at the optimal time, dried slowly and selected by hand before packaging.

THE ORIGINS

Tangi Tonic's history inevitably passes through that of its main parent, Tangie, created by Dutch breeder DNA Genetics in the early 2010s as a reinterpretation of the historic California Orange of the 1980s — a sativa variety celebrated for its extraordinary mandarin profile — crossed with Skunk to stabilise its genetics and improve its yield. Tangie quickly conquered the European scene, winning numerous prizes at the Amsterdam Cannabis Cups between 2013 and 2015 and becoming one of the continent's reference citrus strains. From this starting point, European breeders specialising in CBD began working on crosses with high-cannabidiol varieties, selecting over several generations the phenotypes that best combined Tangie's unmistakable terpene profile with high, stable CBD concentrations. The result — Tangi Tonic — now represents one of the most successful examples of how modern European breeding can produce exceptionally high-quality CBD varieties capable of competing with the finest genetics on the international market.
